چکیده

The ability to control boundary behaviors is critical for the subdivision surface to become a useful representation in computer aided geometric design. Previous methods achieve boundary control by extending the boundary vertices of the control mesh, or by applying different subdivision rules to the boundary edges and vertices. This paper presents an open uniform quadratic subdivision scheme derived from the subdivision of open uniform B-spline surfaces. For meshes with 4-sided boundary and corner faces, the cross-tangent along the boundary curves can also be derived. The proposed scheme leads to a straightforward boundary control that enables two subdivision surfaces to be joined with C and C-continuity.

N-Sided Hole Filling and Vertex Blending Using Subdivision Surfaces

To fill an N-sided hole on a NURBS surface and to blend a corner formed by NURBS surfaces, we propose a regular N-sided open uniform quadratic subdivision surface derived by applying the open uniform quadratic subdivision scheme to a regular N-sided control mesh which is confined to the hole or to the region of the vertex blend. Boundary conditions such as C and G-continuity required for the ho...

Polynomial-based non-uniform interpolatory subdivision with features control

Starting from a well-known construction of polynomial-based interpolatory 4-point schemes, in this paper we present an original affine combination of quadratic polynomial samples that leads to a non-uniform 4-point scheme with edge parameters. This blending-type formulation is then further generalized to provide a powerful subdivision algorithm that combines the fairing curve of a non-uniform r...

An Implementation of Non-Uniform Recursive Subdivision Surfaces

Normal Doo-Sabin subdivision surfaces are based on uniform quadratic B-splines. This makes it somewhat more difficult to produce an object with sharp creases or corners using normal Doo-Sabin subdivision. Non-Uniform Subdivision Surfaces on the other hand, allow for the possibility of creating an object that will keep specific points sharp based on the knot intervals that a particular edge is a...

Filling N-sided Holes Using Combined Subdivision Schemes

A new method is presented for calculating N-sided surface patches. The algorithm generates a subdivision surface which satisses arbitrary C 1 boundary conditions. The proposed subdivision scheme is based on a Catmull-Clark type subdivision scheme that operates in the surface interior. Near the boundary we introduce new subdivision rules that involve the given boundary conditions. The generated ...

Conversion of Trimmed NURBS Surfaces to Untrimmed Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surfaces

We introduce a novel method to convert trimmed NURBS surfaces to untrimmed subdivision surfaces with Bézier edge conditions. We take a NURBS surface and its trimming curves as input, from this we automatically compute a base mesh, the limit surface of which fits the trimmed NURBS surface to a specified tolerance. We first construct the topology of the base mesh by performing a cross-field based...
